At Prism Energy, we are proud of the valued Risk Management support we have provided to our customers to date gaining extensive experience in both the renewables and oil & gas industries. Working with operators, contractors and sub-contractors alike, on scopes situated across the globe.

The risk profile in the relatively immature renewables industry differs from the Oil & Gas industry (having a very mature and well defined supply chain), the Prism “knowledge” and experience is increasing as our portfolio of work in renewables grows.

Risk Services form part of our wider Project Management Consultancy. CSRA support can be tailored or scaled to suit the customers needs and fulfils a number of objectives, particularly during assurance of capital projects.

What are the objectives (and benefits) of completing a cost & schedule risk analysis exercise?

  • We provide guidance to project teams on the suitability or maturity of project control ‘assurance’ deliverables.
  • CSRA provides opportunity for independence and a risk focused review of the projects baseline schedule & cost estimates – this identifies areas of uncertainty and discrete threats & opportunities.
  • This understanding of the risk drivers for schedule & estimate allows the project to put into place focussed mitigation strategies to prevent growth.
  • A probabilistic data set is generated for the outturn cost & schedule at the point of project completion which will support the identification of appropriate levels of contingency.
  • Supports expectation on delivery through a wider understanding of the risked schedule & estimate by all relevant stakeholders.

How do we achieve this?

We achieve the objectives above through a detailed review of the deterministic data provided, we transfer the data into a software model. A facilitated review is held with the customers team to define “uncertainty ranges” and the discreet “risk events” relevant to cost & schedule. The output from this work is provided in a tailored report for the customer and stakeholders.

Due to our location and project delivery background, our consultancy business stream has grown through increasing our customer base in the Oil & Gas Industry. Recently however, we are experiencing an increase in requests for consultancy support from the renewables industry. The risk profile in an Offshore Wind Development may differ from its equivalent in Upstream Oil & Gas, but risk management principles remain consistent, as such our CSRA services and wider risk management support are proving to be valued by new customers in this expanding area of our business.
